Sammi 'Sweetheart' Giancola and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro finally had their highly anticipated reunion on Thursday's episode of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.

The season seven episode titled 'Sam and Ron' focused on Sammi, 37, and Ronnie, 38, seeing each other for the first time since their split in 2016.

Ronnie joined the roommates during their group trip to Nashville and was picked up at the airport by Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino, Paul 'DJ Pauly D' DelVecchio and Vinny Guadagnino.

'All right, Ron. Tell me how long you've waited for this,' a producer asked.

'Wow, it's been like almost two and a half years, probably,' Ronnie said in a confessional.

He added: 'The last two years being away was definitely a double-edged sword. You know, I was able to focus on myself. I'm doing therapy, parenting classes, AA meetings. Honestly, just a lot of self-care.'

'But at the same time, it was hard being away from my family. So, now I'm ready to show my roommates that I am becoming a better person. That's what I feel like this trip is, you know?,' Ronnie said.

He snickered when a producer asked if there was anybody else on his mind while coming back onto the show.

'I know that I'm gonna have to see Sam. We haven't seen each other in seven years, you know? There was no closure for us, so it's kind of weird. I just don't want it to be awkward, honestly,' Ronnie said.

Flashbacks were shown of Ronnie and Sammi as a couple during the original run of Jersey Shore on MTV and he was seen declaring that he was 'madly in love' with her.

The episode opened with a message to viewers that the word 'awkward' was going to be used repeatedly and revealed that it was used 237 times during the show.

Jennifer 'JWoww' Farley, 38, asked Sammi if she was good while the guys were retrieving Ronnie.

'I'm in a bad mood today,' Sammi admitted.

A producer told Sammi that it was a 'big day for her.

'Oh, my God. It's just stupid,' Sammi whispered in a confessional.

She added: 'I'm just, like, a ball of emotions. I'm not looking forward to spending time with this person that hasn't been a part of my life for, like, ever now. I just want to kind of figure it out so everybody can have fun, coexist, and get along together.'

Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi, 36, to alleviate tension for Sammi took the girls to a Nashville studio to record a country song.

The guys meanwhile went to The Diner and were excited to eat white gravy and biscuits.

'You know, I want to continue to rebuild my relationship with everybody and make more memories, that's it,' Ronnie told them.

Pauly, 43, gave Ronnie credit for apologizing to them in Orlando and Ronnie told the camera that he wanted to continue to improve himself.

Ronnie in a confessional said he felt like he could help Angelina Pivarnick, 37, who has been dealing with multiple problems in her relationships.

A producer told Sammi that it was a 'big day for her.

The guys asked Ronnie about seeing Sammi again and he said that it had been eights years since they saw each other.

'The last time we talked, it was just kind of like, we're done, and that was just it. I think that we both have grown. I know I've grown, and I've matured. And, you know, I'm hoping me and Sam could have a conversation. But, you know, we'll see,' Ronnie said.

Ronnie said he was  focused on seeing the guys and was hoping to at least coexist with Sammi.

The girls meanwhile ate at the studio and supported Sammi.

'Being on vacation with your ex is not ideal. We can coexist. That's where it ends. Sam and Ron is from the past,' Sammi said in a confessional.

Angelina turned the conversation to ease the tension and they ended up playing a game of 'name your price'.

'Oh, back in the day, I would do a lot for a little. So would everybody else,' Angelina said in a confessional.

Angelina asked how much the price would be to have sex with Donald Trump.

'Probably free. I'd do it for free,' Angelina said.

'No [expletive], just kill me. Frickin' nasty,' Snooki said.

'She's doing it for America, people,' Jenni quipped.

Ronnie said in a confessional that he didn't have a plan for meeting Sam and was going to let it be organic.

The girls performed their new country song Jersey Shore Trippin' and Deena in a confessional said they were going on tour.

'It was a great day. It sucks that it's all gonna go pfft real quick,' JWoww said in a confessional.

Pauly, meanwhile, bought some red flowers from a street vendor as they left the diner and gave them to Ronnie.

'Can you imagine?,' Vinny said laughing in the car at the thought of Ronnie walking in with flowers for Sammi.

Angelina while making pizza with Snooki teased Sammi that Ronnie was walking up the stairs.

'Listen, it was hard for me to come back in the first place. So I'm hoping they can see where I'm coming from,' Sammi said to the camera.

Ronnie walked in and hugged Angelina, Snooki and JWoww and said to Sammi, 'Hey, how are you?'.

'Ron's here,' Pauly said.

The group had some small talk as Pauly pointed out repeatedly that Ron was there.

Pauly said he would figure out the plan for dinner and the guys went off to get ready.

JWoww asked Sammi how it went for her.

'Yeah, I wasn't expecting anything. I feel ...nothing,' Sammi said.

He was hoping to keep the mood light and it worked as everyone had a good time with the eating contest.

JWoww was determined to beat Mike and she lasted until the fourth round.

Vinny, however, then brought up the infamous note in which Sammi was informed anonymously that Ronnie was cheating on her.

Sammi told Vinny that it wasn't funny and told him to stop it.

'I'm serious, stop,' Sammi said. 'It's not funny.'

Mike warned Vinny that Sammi would 'body' him if he's not careful.

Sammi in a confessional said that Vinny's joking was not something that she took lightly and that she felt like she was going to explode.

'He identifies as a chooch,' Pauly said about Vinny.
